These days, we have a plethora of sex toys at our disposal with just a few mouse clicks. It’s very exciting, but if you’re not familiar with these toys, you might be a little overwhelmed. That’s why today, we’re focusing on sex toys to give you all the information you need to know. Today we’re going to talk about dildos! what are these? What types exist? Why do people use them? How to choose one for sexual pleasure, how to use one? We’ll cover everything. So, get ready to be educated about dildoes!
Seriously, what is a dildo?
Simply put, a dildo is a sex toy designed to give you or your partner sexual pleasure through penetration. There are many ways to use dildo, such as vaginal, anal, oral, external massage and so on. While dildos are usually in the shape of a penis, they aren’t necessarily designed to look like a penis (though, if that’s what you want, you have plenty of options!). Young is available in many shapes, sizes, lengths and girths. Also, they can be made of many different materials, some soft and some hard as stone. Some are curved or have spherical tips for g-spot or prostate stimulation, others have suction cup bases or are compatible with strap-on harnesses. Basically, there are many kinds of dildos!
Why do people like dildos?
Just as there are a variety of dildos to choose from, there are many reasons why people use and enjoy dildos. Prosthetics are popular among people of all genders and sexual orientations. They can enhance various sexual stimulation activities, including but not limited to clitoral stimulation, vaginal penetration (including g-spot stimulation), and anal penetration (including prostate stimulation).
Dildos are sometimes used for treatment, as sexual health professionals sometimes recommend them as part of treatment for conditions such as pelvic floor muscle spasms, vaginismus, and more.
Other reasons someone might use a dildo include, but are not limited to:
Explore double insertion
Identify gender identity or sexual orientation
Enlarge the size of the existing penis
What are the different types of dildos?
There are many different kinds of dildos, and we’ll discuss each of them below:
You can also see these described as “realistic” or “surreal”. A typical dildo is designed to look like a human penis and may include veins, a prominent head, and sometimes even testicles.
Non-representational: This is the name given to various dildos that are not designed to look like penises. They can have almost any shape imaginable. Some are like smooth round sticks, others are shaped like anything from cute animals to creepy tentacles to realistic-looking vegetables, and more.
Vibration: Vibrating dildos usually have a cavity at the bottom of the toy into which the bullet vibrator can be inserted, but some also include a small additional motor. To learn more about vibrating dildos and sex toys, read our linked blog on the difference between dildos and vibrators. Suction Cups: Suction cup dildos are designed to attach securely to walls, floors, tables, etc. Take advantage of the powerful suction cups on the bottom of the toy. This allows users to play hands-free single player games.
Strap: Any harness-compatible dildo, usually meaning it has a flared base that can be used with the harness – as a wearable strap-on dildo. In addition, there are also dildos commonly referred to as “strapless” dildos that are designed to emerge from the wearer’s body by inserting one end of the small bulb into the wearer’s vagina, while the longer end (we tend to to depict it as an actual dildo).
Double-ended: The double-ended dildo is designed to pass through two holes at a time. They can be used in pairs, each inserted into one end of the toy, or individually, inserted into both the vagina and anus. Tip: Even if you’re not looking for double penetration, double dildos are fun to use on their own because they’re long and provide some handle when inserting yourself for sexual stimulation.
Pack and Play: Pack and play dildos are designed to be worn with sling underwear and create realistic bumps – this is the “packaging” part. You can then adjust the dildo section to an upright position and use it with your partner–. This is the “play” part.
Remember, dildos are made from many different sex toy materials. Therefore, many of the varieties listed above may look and feel different depending on what material they are made of. Dildos made from silicone, TPR, or any type of “real feel” sex toy material can range from firm to slightly soft to completely soft. At the same time, there are dildos made of glass, steel, crystal and even ceramics. These dildos are obviously hard.
How to use a dildo
Well, now that we know what a dildo is, let’s take a moment to discuss how to choose a dildo and how to use it. Dildos can be a lot of fun, especially if you remember these tips for creating a comfortable and enjoyable experience:
Start small. Unless you know you like bold toys, start small and work your way up.
Choose your materials wisely: Knowing how to clean a dildo is important. For easy cleaning, choose a dildo made of non-porous materials such as silicone, glass, or metal that are safe for your body. If you choose a porous material like TPR or TPE, consider using a condom on a porous sex toy.
Clean your dildo before use. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Some dildos can be boiled—usually made of silicone and steel, while others are cleaned with warm water and mild soap or sex-toy cleaner.
Think about temperature. Toys can get cold, especially those made of glass or steel! For comfort, consider heating the dildo by running it in warm water. Let’s go. The friction between your skin and the toy can be uncomfortable, but using lube will keep things going. Water-based lubricants are generally safe for toys. Long-lasting silicone lubricants are safe to use on hard toys made of glass or steel.
warm up. As with any sexual activity, you’ll feel better with a dildo if you warm up first. Consider using a vibrator or spending time touching your vaginal opening, clitoris, or anus before attempting penetration.
(carefully) Slip in. If you’re going to dive in with your best dildo, now is the time! Take your time, don’t be afraid to add more lubricant if necessary, and remember that using a dildo will never hurt you. Most importantly, enjoy!
Clean up your dildo. Just like before you use it, you want to clean your toy after use. Before putting your dildo in a storage bag or case, make sure it is completely dry.
Dildos can add to your sex toy collection. With so many types to choose from – anal dildo, vibrating dildo, silicone dildo, double headed dildo or strappy dildo, you’re sure to find something you like!
